An unusual species with ascocarps completely immersed in low thallus warts and opening by a punctiform pore.

Growing on tree bark in rain forest, preferably on the lower canopy branches; pantropical.
The ascomata are rather apothecium-like, but often show that the hymenium is free from the margin, which is of thalline origin.
