The XI OPTIMA Meeting will be held on September
5-11, 2004 in Belgrade (Serbia and Montenegro).

Meetings of Commissions, Executive Council and
International Board will be held
before the official
beginning of the Meeting, on September 3, 4 and 5,
at Natural History Museum in Belgrade
(Njegoševa
51).

The scientific activities of the XI OPTIMA Meeting
will be located in the building of ZADUŽBINA ILIJE
M. KOLARCA
(Studentski
Trg 5), in the very centre of the city. |

The Opening Ceremony of XI OPTIMA Meeting, followed
by the
Welcome Reception, will take place on 5 September at
7 pm, at
Zadužbina Ilije M. Kolarca (Studentski Trg 5).

The Closing Ceremony of the XI OPTIMA Meeting will
occur on 11
September at 5 pm at Zadužbina Ilije M. Kolarca (Studentski
Trg 5).
ARRIVAL
You can arrive in Belgrade by plane, train, bus or
car. The air traffic connects Belgrade to most world
cities. Many air traffic companies have daily
flights to
Surčin
airport, about 20 km from Belgrade. Several
international trains arrive daily at the Main
Railway Station (Glavna
Železnička Stanica),
which is situated in the city centre, next to the
Belgrade Bus Station also running national and
international lines.
For those travelling by car, Belgrade is accessible by highway, from the
north via
Subotica,
from the south and east via Niš, and from the west
via Ljubljana and Zagreb.
Belgrade’s climate is temperate-continental, but
with a significant influence of Atlantic and
somewhat weaker of Mediterranean climate. September
in Belgrade is generally pleasant, warm and with
little rain. The days are mostly sunny, with
temperatures varying between 16 and 25°C, while the
evenings and nights are pleasantly cool.
Visas
In order to enter the country Serbia and Montenegro,
participants from European countries (except
Albania) as well as Israel, Tunisia and the USA do
not need a visa, but they must have a passport valid
for 6 more months.
The participants coming from Albania, Morocco,
Egypt, Algeria, Mauritania, Armenia, Georgia,
Ukraine, Russia and Iran must obtain a visa
beforehand.
Currency
The official currency is the
Dinar;
at present rates one Euro is equivalent to 68
Dinars.
Euros are not generally accepted. Banks for exchange
are open Monday through Friday 9 am to 7 pm
(Saturday to 2 pm). Exchange can also be effected at
the airport, hotel counters and exchange offices.
Payments are normally expected in cash. Credit cards
(Visa, Diners, MasterCard) are accepted in most
shops and restaurants, hotels (including those in
which participants will be staying), and by car
rental companies (Avis, Hertz).
Local transport
Public transport: buses, trolleybus, trolley car.
Taxis are available all over the city. A ride within
the city will cost about 150-250 dinars, one from
the airport to the city centre about 700 dinars. At
the airport it is recommended to make the order at
the taxi service desk.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
Includes 12 Symposia with invited speakers, as well
as two Poster sessions with presentations that may
or not may be correlated to the Symposium topics.

Printing of abstracts for the posters as well as
their presentation at the meeting in the Poster
Sessions will be possible only when Registration
fees have been paid.
BOOK OF ABSTRACTS
Abstracts of invited oral communications and poster
presentations will be printed in the XI OPTIMA
Meeting Abstracts Book. The book will be made
available to all participants at the beginning of
the meeting.

All participants except those giving a lecture have
the right to present one poster. Authors of the posters are
kindly requested to fill the

PROCEEDINGS BOOK
The papers corresponding to the lectures and poster
presentations at the XI
OPTIMA Meeting can be submitted for publication in
BOCCONEA. Their length must not as a rule exceed 12
printed pages (lectures) or 6 printed pages
(posters), including illustrations and tables.
Acceptance is conditional upon positive peer
reviewing.

The authors who intend to see their papers printed
must bring to Belgrade a completely prepared text,
both as hard copy and on electronic support, and
hand it in at the Registration desk by the end of
the meeting. They are urgently requested to conform
with the Instructions to authors published on the
cover inside of recent issues of BOCCONEA (or:
http://www.unipa.it/herbmed/pubblica.htm)

The participants to the meeting can buy the
proceedings volume at a special subscription rate of
75 Euros, to be paid either together with the
registration fee or at the Registration desk in
Belgrade (later on, the price will be at least 100
Euros).
