Biodiversity in Boreal Forests is a joint project between the University of Helsinki, Finnish Evironment Institute, Finnish Forest Industries Federation, and Finnish Forest Research Institute. • Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), from UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme, Geneva, Switzerland). CITES establishes world-wide controls on the international trade in threatened species of animals and plants. It requires that this trade be subject to authorization by government-issued permits or certificates. In the case of species threatened with extinction, CITES prohibits all commercial trade in wild specimens. The Convention was signed in 1975 and more than 125 countries are members.
• Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) / WCMC site. • The National Collection of Endangered Plants, from the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, USA. As of September 15, 1995, the National Collection of Endangered Plants contained seeds, cuttings and whole plants of 486 plant species native to the United States. The Collection is stored at the 25 gardens and arboreta that form the network known as the Center for Plant Conservation.
